While it is welcome news that Governor Nikki Haley has finally taken a public position to remove the confederate flag from the South Carolina State Capitol – it is far from enough. Our nation continues to carry the deep wounds of racism and oppression – and these wounds are exacerbated by harmful policies and a governing philosophy that believes we have no responsibility to our fellow man and woman. If Gov. Haley is truly serious about change she will take a hard look at ensuring that South Carolina’s government works for everyone and not just the wealthy few.
