(Washington, DC) – The AFL-CIO has named Luis Navarro the Deputy Director of the Campaigns Department. Luis will work closely with the Campaigns Director and will oversee and operationalize goals, strategy and day-to-day management of the campaigns team.
Prior to working with the federation, he served as the Senior Campaign Advisor for Every Voice Action, and previously worked as the Senior Resident Director for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs.
“Luis has worked on behalf of working people from the grassroots level all the way up to the halls of Congress,” said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. “We are excited to have his dedication and his tireless energy on our team, helping to drive the labor movement forward.”
During his career, Luis has worked for labor unions such the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and Service Employees International Union (SEIU). Luis has also worked as a senior aide for various campaign committees, Members of Congress and presidential campaigns. Luis was the presidential campaign manager and last chief of staff in the US Senate for then Senator Joe Biden.
Luis is a native of Washington D.C. and a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park.
