Statement by AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka on the 2016 election campaign and For Our Future SuperPAC:
I was pleased to be in Ohio this weekend helping labor leaders kick off our 2016 election campaign. The AFL-CIO and all workers will bring everything we’ve got to this election; we will soon be making our presidential endorsement and are gearing up to run powerful ground operations in states all over the country.
We have also joined a new coalition called For Our Future, that will bring a laser focus to winning the immediate battles ahead for working people – electing a pro-worker president and Congress. The AFL-CIO joined this coalition because of its commitment to building a 21st Century economy driven by creating and protecting good middle class jobs and promoting policies that will better the lives of all working people. For Our Future will build on labor’s ground power, the activism of community leaders, and the passion of individual activists to create a winning force that will ensure that we write the economic rules.
