Working Families in Action

When they aren't on the job, working people put their time and effort into helping their community and working for the issues and political leaders who fight for us. Here are some recent examples of working people in action:

South Florida AFL-CIO Hosts Phone Banks and Canvasses for Labor 2016: The South Florida AFL-CIO is hosting regular “Talk to Voters to Win for Working People” phone banks and “Walk with Labor” canvasses to educate voters on union issues, including living wages, good jobs and health care, and to discuss union-backed candidates.

Illinois AFL-CIO Hosts Labor 2016 Phone Bank: The Illinois AFL-CIO hosted a phone bank to educate voters on union-endorsed candidates Tammy Duckworth and Hillary Clinton.

Alaska AFL-CIO Hosts Food Drive: The Alaska AFL-CIO joined the Building and Construction Trades Council of South Central Alaska for their fourth annual food drive. The unions collected $5,000 and bags of food for the hungry.

Tarrant County Central Labor Council Supports Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Musicians: The Tarrant County Central Labor Council joined Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra musicians in their strike against a contract that would cut their pay for the second time in six years.

Colorado AFL-CIO and Denver Area Labor Federation Host Largest Canvass Yet: The Colorado AFL-CIO and the Denver Area Labor Federation hosted their largest canvass yet with more than 200 union members knocking on doors for labor issues and union-endorsed candidates last weekend.

Atlanta-North Georgia Labor Council Kicks Off United Way Campaign: The Atlanta-North Georgia Labor Council kicked off its United Way campaign in Douglas County.
