Leadership Development Series
The Leadership Development Series is a two-year program of workshops to ensure union members get the skills they need to organize and improve their workplace, their communities and the nation.
Veteran organizers from national unions and the AFL-CIO lead one-day interactive workshops to teach participants such basic and advanced skills as:
- Community organizing and advocacy fundamentals;
- Mobilizing for action;
- Running issues campaigns;
- Recruiting and coordinating volunteers;
- Lobbying for legislation;
- Coalition building and community outreach;
- Holding elected officials accountable; and
- Running political campaigns and running for office.
Workshops are held several times a year in cities across the country. They are open to all AFL-CIO affiliate union members at no cost.
