Straight Facts About Our Candidates

U.S. House of Representatives, New York, District 25

DAN MAFFEI GILLIBRAND WILL FIGHT FOR WORKING FAMILIES

Will Fight for Our Jobs.
Dan Maffei will oppose unfair trade deals that send our jobs overseas and will work to create new jobs here in New York. “Haven’t we already lost enough jobs to unfair trade? We must have an economy that produces something and exports to other places,” he says. (Maffei editorial, Post-Standard, 8/27/06)

Will Protect Our Retirement Security.
Dan Maffei opposes risky privatization schemes that undermine the very premise and promise of Social Security. It “is the one government program that people understand works.” (Los Angeles Times, 6/27/05)

Will Advocate for Our Health Care.
Dan Maffei will advocate for affordable health care for working families. He knows “we are in a health care crisis in this country that is straining hospitals, bankrupting businesses, squeezing the middle class and leaving 44 million Americans uninsured.” (Post-Standard, 1/30/06)

JIM WALSH HAS FAILED WORKING FAMILIES

Jeopardized Our Jobs.
Jim Walsh voted to privatize our federal jobs, to send our jobs overseas with CAFTA and to provide $40 billion in tax breaks for companies that export jobs. (H.R. 3058, 6/30/05; H.R. 3045, Vote #443, 7/28/05; H.R. 4520, Vote #259, 6/17/04)

Put Our Retirement Security at Risk.

Attacked Our Health Care.
Jim Walsh voted to increase insurance premiums for working families. He sided with HMOs to limit the rights of injured patients and create special protections for negligent
HMOs. (H.R. 525, Vote #426, 7/26/05; H.R. 2663, 8/2/01)
