SEN. BOB MENENDEZ IS FIGHTING FOR WORKING FAMILIES.

Advocates for Our Health Coverage. Bob Menendez introduced a bill to allow hard-working Americans who are between jobs a refundable tax credit for 50 percent of the premium for continuation of coverage under a group health plan. (S. 2270, 2/9/06)

Preserves Social Security. Bob Menendez pledged to oppose efforts to privatize Social Security. He warned fellow lawmakers: “Don't touch Social Security. Keep it secure. Don't privatize it.” (Daily Record, 7/25/06)

Fights for a Minimum Wage Increase. Bob Menendez co-sponsored the Fair Minimum Wage Act to raise the federal minimum wage to $7.25 an hour. (S. 1062, 3/28/06)

Tom Kean Jr. voted to privatize our Social Security—even though privatization would put “millions of Americans into poverty” while “destroying the most successful social insurance program ever created in the United States.” (Cherry Hill Courier-Post, 7/14/06; Newark Star Ledger, 7/25/06)

Opposed a Minimum Wage Increase. Tom Kean Jr. voted against increasing the minimum wage. (S-2065, 11/15/04)
