TIM WALZ WILL FIGHT FOR WORKING FAMILIES

Will Advocate for Our Health Care. Tim Walz will “act boldly and immediately” for a health coverage bill that will “cover all children in this country.” He will reform and strengthen health care programs “to improve the lives of seniors, veterans and children.” (City Pages, 6/21/06; www.timwalz.org)

Will Protect Our Jobs. Tim Walz will make sure “as many people can enter the middle class as possible.” He will oppose bad trade deals that take “jobs away from Americans” and lower wages. (City Pages, 6/21/06)

GIL GUTKNECHT  HAS FAILED WORKING FAMILIES

Attacked Our Health Care. Gil Gutknecht voted to increase insurance premiums for working families, sided with HMOs to limit the rights of injured patients and supported special protections for negligent HMOs. (H.R. 525, Vote #426, 7/26/05; H.R. 2663, 8/2/01)

Voted Against Workers. Gil Gutknecht voted against funding for critical job training programs, against unemployment benefits for Minnesota’s workers and against protecting overtime pay. (H.R. 27, Vote #48, 3/2/05; H.R. 3030, 2/4/04; H.R. 2660, 7/10/2003)

Refused to Invest in Our Students. Gil Gutknecht voted against $7.8 billion in funding for education programs and to cut the No Child Left Behind program by $806 million, denying services to Minnesota’s children.
