BEN CARDIN FIGHTS FOR WORKING FAMILIES

Sending Our Jobs Overseas.
Cardin voted against sending more of our jobs overseas with an unfair trade agreement with Central America and the Dominican Republic, and co-sponsored legislation to help workers displaced by trade agreements. (H.R. 3045, 7/28/05; H.R. 4156, 10/27/05; H.R. 3881, 3/3/04)

Supports Raising the Minimum Wage.

Protects Our Health, Retirement Security.

MICHAEL STEELE HAS FAILED WORKING FAMILIES

Defied Legislature to Send Our Jobs Overseas.
Michael Steele and the Ehrlich/Steele administration ignored a law passed by state legislators requiring Maryland’s exemption from CAFTA requirements. (Baltimore Sun, 6/17/05)

Refuses to Fight for Our Wages.
Michael Steele said, “The idea of the minimum wage is almost fallacy.” He also refused to pledge to forgo a congressional pay raise until the minimum wage is increased. (The Wall Street Journal, 4/8/06; ABC News, 7/25/06)

Attacked Our Health Care.
Michael Steele and the Ehrlich/Steele administration froze funding for state employee health care—shifting costs to workers. Steele also supported the flawed Medicare prescription drug law that penalizes our seniors. (Baltimore Sun, 1/20/05; CNBC, 9/16/04)
