TAMMY DUCKWORTH WILL FIGHT FOR WORKING FAMILIES

Will Advocate for Working Families. Duckworth opposed sending our jobs overseas with CAFTA and supports relieving the Alternative Minimum Tax that unfairly increases the taxes of thousands of working families. (Chicago Tribune, 5/10/06; Chicago Daily Herald, 5/26/05)

Will Fight for Affordable Health Care. Duckworth believes “we need to have affordable health care for all Americans” and supports the All Kids initiative to provide health coverage for every child. (Chicago Daily Herald, 2/17/06)

Will Strengthen Education. Duckworth understands the need for greater educational opportunities for our children and will work to reverse the $12.7 billion cuts to student loans. (Chicago Sun Times, 7/10/06)



PETER ROSKAM HAS FAILED WORKING FAMILIES

Attacked Our Wages. Roskam opposed minimum-wage increases and voted to take overtime pay away from Illinois workers. (Chicago Tribune, 5/10/06; S.B. 1645, 2004)

Failed on Health Care. Roskam voted against the All Kids health care plan, denying health care to our children, and opposed a plan to increase our access to affordable health care. (H.B. 2268, 2004; H.B. 806, 2005)

Slashed Education Funds. Roskam denied our public schools $600 million in new state funding and voted to use public money to fund private education. (S.B. 645, 1997; H.B. 999, 1997)
