 Official Rules
 

These are the official rules for the Ask a Working Woman Survey Contest (“Contest”).

  
 
Sponsors:

The Contest is sponsored by the AFL-CIO and Working America, 815 Sixteenth Street NW, Washington, DC 20006.

  
Eligibility:

The Contest is open to all residents of the United States who are 21 years of age or older at the time the Contest commences. Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives and independent contractors (and their immediate family members and members of the same households, whether related or not) of Working America or the AFL-CIO are not eligible to participate.  The Contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law or regulation.  Participants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules and by the decisions of the Sponsors, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to the Contest.  The Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any participant that they determine, in their sole discretion, is ineligible to participate in the Contest. 

Use of automated devices are not valid for entry. Electronic entries must include a valid e-mail address for the entrant.  In the event of a dispute as to the identity or eligibility of a winner based on an e-mail address, the winning entry will be declared made by the “Authorized Account Holder” [defined as the natural person who is assigned to the e-mail address by an Internet Access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.)] of the e-mail address submitted at the time of the entry.

  
Summary:

In order to enter the Contest, you must enter your email address in the designated “Your E-mail” window in the “Tell a Friend” box on the instant results web page of the survey.  All Contest participants become members of Working America.  (Click here to read our privacy policy).

You can earn contest credits in several ways:

 
    1. E-mail addresses you enter in the “Friends’ E-mail Addresses” window in the “Tell a Friend” box will receive an e-mail message from your e-mail address with a hyperlink to the survey.  You will receive one contest credit for each click-through to the survey originating from the e-mail message sent on your behalf.
    2. If your e-mail message generated through the “Tell a Friend” box is forwarded to other e-mail addresses, and results in additional click-throughs to the survey, you will receive one contest credit for each click-through. 
    3. Subsequent to your initial contest entry through the “Tell a Friend” box, you will receive a “Confirmation of Referrals” e-mail message.  If you forward the “Confirmation of Referrals” e-mail message to other e-mail addresses, and it results in additional click-throughs to the survey, you will receive one contest credit for each click-through. 
    4. If others forward your e-mail message, resulting in additional click-throughs to the survey, you will receive one contest credit for each click-through.
    5. You may return to the “Tell a Friend” box in the instant results web page of the survey to enter additional e-mail addresses at any time during the contest to generate e-mail messages inviting others to take the survey.  You will receive credit for any additional click-throughs generated. 
  
 

Entries or contest credits earned after 5:00 pm EST on July 10, 2006 will not be considered.  Information concerning the number of credits you received may be obtained by sending a written request to Working America, 815 Sixteenth Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20006 Attn: Ask a Working Woman survey. 

The eligible entrant with the most contest credits at 5:00 pm EST on July 10, 2006 will be the winner.  Entrants with the 25 next highest number of contest credits will be runners-up.  The Contest winner and runners-up will be notified by email or telephone if a number is provided on or before July 14, 2006.  The names of the winner and runners-up will be posted on the Working America website after they are notified.  

The decision of the Sponsors is final.  The winner must agree to participate in person in the national release of the survey results in an event in Chicago, Illinois August 8 or 9, 2006.  The winner will be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility, a release of any and all liability from any claims for damages, losses or injury against Sponsors and/or any of its agents or contractors arising from use of the prize, and such other forms as the Sponsors may require.  

  
Prizes:

The winner will participate in the national release of the survey results in an event August 8 or 9, 2006 in conjunction with the AFL-CIO Executive Council meeting in Chicago, Illinois.  Working America and the AFL-CIO will pay for the winner’s round-trip travel to and from Chicago, one night’s lodging and meals.  Airline travel will be at economy fare and mileage will be reimbursed at $0.445 per mile.  The 25 runners-up will be invited to participate in a national conference call with women leaders of unions and leaders of women’s organizations to be held the week of September 5 – 8, 2006.  Prizes are not transferable and no substitutions are allowed except by the Sponsors, which reserve the right to award a prize to the next eligible entrant should the winner or runners-up not be available or deemed ineligible.  All taxes and other expenses related to any prize are the responsibility of the prize winners.  

  
Cost:

There is no cost to participate in the Contest.  No purchase is necessary.

  
Rounds:

There will only be one round in this Contest.

  
Dates:

The Contest will begin on June 6, 2006 and will end on July 10, 2006 at 5:00 pm EST.

  
Limitation of Liability :

If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, the Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the Contest, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.  Sponsors assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries.  Sponsors are not responsible for problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail to be received by the Sponsors on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Contest.

By participating in the Contest, each participant agrees to release and hold the Sponsors harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with or resulting from participation in the Contest and/or acceptance, possession, or use of any prize(s) including, without limitation, personal injuries, death, property damages and any claims by third parties or otherwise based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.  Entrants acknowledge that Sponsors is not responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any Prize.

  
Jurisdiction:

Any dispute that may arise hereunder shall be brought solely in the appropriate state or federal court sitting in Washington, D.C., and participants consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such court.
