Harry Lombardo, 64, was elected international president of the Transport Workers (TWU) at the union's convention in Las Vegas this week. 

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Lombardo replaced James C. Little, who headed the union since 2006.

This week, the Transport Workers (TWU) union is hosting its 24th Constitutional Convention in Las Vegas.

Skilled and alert operators prevent an unknown number of injuries and fatalities on New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) subway tracks each year. But there also are thousands of union members—including many from unions in the Greater New Orleans AFL-CIO (GNO)—who proudly display their union label and are making the game possible and the fan experience in the Crescent City run smoothly.

Transport Workers (TWU) began running ads this week in the Provo Daily Herald, asking whether or not the airline, Allegiant, will actually be around to provide service to the community. In connection with the ads, TWU launched the website “WillAllegiantBeThere.org,” which includes an “UnRoute Map” of canceled service. Also on the website are reports of the low level of service the airline has provided in recent years.
