Rally in Atlantic City on June 21
Thousands of casino workers, elected officials, union leaders and supporters from across the country filled the streets of Atlantic City on June 21 in a major march and rally to demand that casino owners stop stalling and negotiate with the workers’ union. Even though workers at four casinos voted overwhelmingly for the UAW in the past year, the owners of the Tropicana, Trump Plaza, Bally’s and Caesars have refused to negotiate a fair contract. New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D) and Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) joined the crowd, and Sen. Barack Obama sent a message of support to casino workers. Here are some photos from that march and rally.
