68 Events Across the Nation Activate Union Members and Allies

On September 10th, local labor movements around the country will lead the largest national day of action this election cycle. Thousands of union members, volunteers and release staff will mobilize as part of the Labor 2016 campaign. A wide range of events in key states will propel working people towards Election Day.
“We are working together to elect candidates who stand with working men and women,” said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. “The National Day of Action will build on what is already a steady drumbeat of activism across the country to engage union members and all working people about the issues that matter.”
AFL-CIO executive officers are traveling to different parts of the nation to meet and speak with union members. There will be nearly 100 events, including canvasses and phone banks, in Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

In Charlotte, North Carolina, union staff and volunteers will spend the day on the phones and doors talking to working families. In addition, there will be simultaneous worksite visits, direct mail and voter protection efforts. National and local affiliate union leaders will also participate in the day of action.
The North Shore AFL-CIO in Ohio will host dozens of volunteers for the state’s largest canvass. The volunteers will spend the day knocking on doors in the working class neighborhoods of Cleveland, demonstrating the true grassroots power of unions.
More than 150 canvassers, from labor and community partner groups, will be mobilized across the state of Nevada.
