AFL-CIO Executive Council Elects Five New Members

(Atlanta, GA Feb. 24, 2015) --The AFL-CIO Executive Council is proud to welcome Lori Pelletier, Jorge Ramirez, Sara Nelson, Captain Tim Canoll and Marc Perrone as its newest members. All five members have shown a steadfast commitment to advancing the labor movement and fighting on behalf of workers.  

An International Association of Machinists (IAM) member, Pelletier serves as the Executive Secretary Treasurer of the Connecticut AFL-CIO and is also National Co-President of Pride @ Work. Jorge Ramirez is President of the Chicago Labor Federation and serves as the Co-Chair of the Chicago Manufacturing Renaissance. Sara Nelson has served as International President of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA since June 2014 and has been a United Airlines flight attendant since 1996. Captain Canoll, a former commanding officer of a U.S. Navy Reserve Squadron, is the President of the Air Line Pilots Association. Marc Perrone has been a UFCW member since 1971 and was elected President of UFCW in December of 2014.

The council appreciates the work of the outgoing members and looks forward to continuing its work to improve the lives of working families with the newly elected members.
