Young Workers and Campus Groups

The AFL-CIO and United Students Against Sweatshops (USAS) are partnering to tackle the challenges that confront working people. Working together, the AFL-CIO and USAS are better positioned to advance the interests of students and workers through shared planning, strategizing and organizing at the state and local levels.

USAS has local chapters on more than 150 campuses and has worked in nationally coordinated campaigns, including:

  • Standing with campus workers to raises wages and halt corporate outsourcing;
  • Fighting sweatshop conditions for garment workers;
  • Demanding that universities end their relationships with banks that refuse to renegotiate underwater mortgages;
  • Demanding that universities cut their ties with T-Mobile because of the company’s vicious union-busting campaign; and
  • Standing in solidarity with Walmart workers as they strive for better working conditions and a living wage.

Across the country, young worker groups are making their voice heard and taking action for workers everywhere. This motivated generation is working with students, civil and human rights advocates and activists to reverse economic and social injustice. Together, we can be a powerful force for all workers.

Tell Congress to Oppose Trump's Nominee for Labor Secretary

Donald Trump’s nominee for secretary of labor—fast food CEO Andrew Puzder—would be a disaster for working Americans. Tell your members of Congress to oppose him.
