Growing demand for solar power means new jobs for highly skilled IBEW electricians across the United States and Canada. Stimulus funds from the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act spurred construction of four solar arrays at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Md. Union electrical workers from Washington, D.C., Local 26 built the project from the ground up with made-in-America materials.
