Federal Extended Unemployment Benefits

Last week, millions of unemployed American workers who are currently receiving Federal Extended Unemployment Benefits were notified that on Dec. 29, 2012, these benefits will end. Many of the people receiving this message are union brothers and sisters. These union members depend on these benefits to provide food and housing for their families until they can obtain a new job. They fell on hard times through no fault of their own, now they need our help in getting these benefits extended through 2013.

President Obama wants to extend unemployment benefits through 2013, but the Republicans in the House are resisting the idea, they want all new programs to be fully funded. The unemployed are now caught up in the Fiscal Cliff Debate. The Republicans have little feeling for the unemployed. I guess if they lose their job they just ask dad for a loan. They haven't got a clue what middle class workers go through just to provide for their families.

Will you now take the time to contact your congressman? Put the pressure on them to get these benefits extended through 2013. They need to get this done before the end of the 2012. We can prevent our union brothers and sisters from suffering to point that their children might go hungry or of maybe losing their homes, but it will take a little work on your part. Don’t put it off, do it today.
