Moral Monday Rallies Continue in North Carolina
Update: More than 60 were arrested at Monday's rally, pushing the total number of arrests at Moral Monday events this year over 700. More than 2,000 people attended the latest rally.
Working families in North Carolina will continue their series of "Moral Monday" rallies today at the Halifax Mall in Raleigh to protest the extreme actions of the legislature and Gov. Pat McCrory (R). Thousands have attended the previous rallies.
The 10th weekly rally that will happen today at 5 p.m. EDT asks the questions:
- What have McCrory, House Speaker Thom Tillis (R) and Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger (R) cost the state?
- What do the numbers say?
- Who have they hurt?
Before the event, a training will be held to train those who want to petition the legislature through nonviolent civil disobedience.
