Join Us for a Conversation on Citizenship
While a comprehensive immigration reform bill has been moving through Congress this year, the nation has had a conversation about citizenship. That conversation comes directly to the AFL-CIO headquarters in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, July 30, with a special forum on immigration and citizenship with several prominent participants, including Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
The forum is set for 9 a.m. to noon EDT and will be followed by a screening of the documentary āHarvest of Empire.ā RSVP here .
Other speakers include Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.), journalist Jose Antonio Vargas, economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin, sociologist and professor Manuel Pastor, DREAMer activist and leader Gaby Pacheco, entrepreneur Alejandro Ruelas and historian and professor Mae Ngai.
The forum will be moderated by Ted Hesson of ABC-Univisionās Fusion and Ross Eisenbrey, vice president of the Economic Policy Institute (EPI). It is sponsored by the AFL-CIO and EPI.
