In-State Tuition to DREAMers with Work Permits Now an Option in Massachusetts

Think Progress reports DREAMers with work permits in Massachusetts will now be eligible for in-state tuition in state schools.

DREAMers are aspiring citizens who're eligible for work permits under President Obama's deferred action program.

This initiative will save immigrant students thousands of dollars in tuition fees. For example, at the state's flagship campus, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in-state students pay $14,415 less each year than out-of-state students.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) directed the Board of Higher Education to grant in-state rates to any student who has obtained a work permit, The Boston Globe reported.
