Union Members @Work: Action

Today, as part of the AFL-CIO’s weeklong launch of @Work, we are featuring “Action,” one of the seven categories featured on the site.

Action @Work highlights the work of the National Taxi Workers Alliance (NTWA), a unique organization of workers who do not have the legal right to organize but have been organizing for nearly 15 years. Last year, led by Bhairavi Desai, NTWA became the latest affiliated union of the AFL-CIO and the first group to receive an organizing committee charter in a half-century.

Click here to read more about the groundbreaking work NTWA has done and its developments in unifying taxi workers, increasing drivers’ take home pay and building a structure to provide the taxi workers access to health care.
