SPEEA Members to Vote on Boeing Pact, Strike Authorization
Thousands of engineers and technical workers at Boeing Co. plants in the Pacific Northwest will begin voting next week on the latest contract offer and whether to authorize a strike, the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace ( SPEEA )/IFPTE Local 2001 announced Thursday.
The bargaining councils for the 7,400 technical and 15,550 professional employees voted to add the strike authorization to the ballots and also voted to recommend that the contract offer be rejected.
The ballots will be mailed Feb. 15, and members will have until Feb. 19 to cast and submit their votes.
In the fall, the workers overwhelmingly (15,092 to 608) rejected an initial contract offer and negotiations resumed in December.
