The Labor Innovation Fund for the Twenty-First Century, aka LIFT , a collaborative project of the AFL-CIO with the Ford Foundation, the Solidago Foundation and the New World Foundation, was recently highlighted by the Berger-Marks Foundation . LIFT gives grants to partnership projects, “conversations around common agendas," and other efforts to link the union movement with community organizing focused on workers’ rights, decent jobs and a fair economy.
Recently the Berger-Marks highlighted LIFT’s grants and its work with traditional and non-traditional worker organizing such as the National Taxi Workers Alliance , the Los Angeles Clean Carwash Campaign and other projects.
The story on the foundation’s blog points out that while LIFT doesn’t accept unsolicited grant proposals, the Berger-Marks Foundation does—though with more limited funds. The deadline for this year’s grant proposals is March 8, and you can click here to find out more.
