Wisconsin Recall Volunteers Contact More Than a Million Voters
The 10,000 volunteers knocking on doors and making phone calls to get out Wisconsin voters for the Aug. 9 recall elections have now talked with more than a million potential voters. Working familes initiated the recall of six Republican lawmakers who voted to kill collective bargaining for the state’s public employees.
Kristen Crowell, field director for the coalition We Are Wisconsin, calls this landmark “an incredible victory for the millions of working people across Wisconsin who are disgusted by Scott Walker’s extreme agenda.”
More importantly, this milestone is a reflection of the strong grassroots energy all over the state from people who want to take their government back and reverse a reckless agenda that attacks the core values that define Wisconsin.
The 10,000-strong grassroots army is made up of local parents, students, construction workers, nurses and more. Crowell says many of them are first timers who have never been engaged in political campaigns.
