New Film 'Harvest of Empire' Opens in Select Cities
Still looking for plans this week? Check out the feature-length documentary by Juan González, "Harvest of Empire: A History of Latinos in America." Recently released in select cities, the film looks at the role of U.S. policy, including immigration and the rise of the Latino population in the United States. "Harvest Empire" tells the untold story of Latino immigrants in America.
Through present day immigrant stories, rarely seen archival materials and interviews from prominent figures such as the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Junot Díaz and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Rigoberta Menchú, "Harvest of Empire" puts a human face to an important issue that is largely misunderstood.
If you're in Washington, D.C., showings will be tomorrow, March 13, at the West End Cinema at 7 p.m. and March 15-23 at the Majestic Theatre in Silver Spring.
