Alaska Workers' Voice Launches Innovative 'My Job' Facebook Page

Alaska Workers' Voice launched a new Facebook page, "My Job," in February that highlights the human side of the state's working families. Alaskans can submit an original photo with a message that explains their job in a creative way to be posted on the page. The mission of the project:

Every day thousands of Alaskans unite to create a safe, fun and thriving community, through work. Ask about My Job, and learn how work connects us all in the Last Frontier. Tell us about your job!

Examples of photos that have already been uploaded include:

  • Jean, a 23-year Chugach Electric employee, who works on websites, and IBEW member, whose photo message says, "My job has unique visitors."
  • William, a school bus driver holding a sign that says, "My job drives the future."
  • Evan, a computer technician for the Anchorage School District, whose photo message says, "My job is key."
