Will New Lawmakers Keep Campaign Trail Job Promises?

Last fall, the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) conducted a 12-city “Keep it Made in America” town hall tour that brought candidates and voters together to talk about the tough issues revolving around reviving American manufacturing, lowering unemployment and getting the U.S. economy back on track.

Today many of those candidates, Republicans and Democrats, were sworn into the new Congress and now have the opportunity to put their pro-job, fair trade promises into action. Check out this video of their pledges at various town hall meetings.

As AAM Executive Director Scott Paul says:

Many of the new members of Congress have talked a good game about saving U.S. manufacturing. During our fall 2010 “Keep it Made in America” Town Hall tour, they pledged to support Buy America requirements and to hold China accountable for its cheating.
Now that they’re in office, it’s your job (and ours) to make sure that they honor their commitments.

But jobs and trade appear to be pretty far down the House Republicans’ to-do-list, given that they are hell-bent on repealing health care and Wall Street reform, gutting workplace safety laws and launching investigative witch hunts.
