Latino Workers Lack Sufficient Hours on the Job
Workers who want full-time hours but are only given part-time work are considered underemployed in the category of involuntary part-time workers. The National Council of La Raza's (NCLR's) Monthly Latino Unemployment Report shows that Latinos, from November 2011 to October 2011, had the highest rate of involuntary part-time work.
Economic Policy Institute's Algernon Austin writes:
The share of Latino workers who only have part-time work but desire full-time work is 10.3 percent. For blacks, it is 7.7 percent, and for whites it is 5 percent. We need much stronger job creation to put these part-time workers in full-time jobs.
