Our movement faces enormous challenges: union density is declining, corporate power is on the rise and basic worker protections are under attack.
Front-line labor and community organizers are confronting these issues every day. And as any organizer will tell you, we’re stronger when we confront tough problems together.
That’s why the AFL-CIO’s Organizing Institute (OI) is teaming up with organizers from across the labor movement to present the National Organizers Workshop. It’s scheduled for March 6–7, 2015, in Washington, D.C., and it’s an event you won’t want to miss.
The OI serves the labor movement with intensive training and professional development for union organizers. Now, we’re bringing together organizers from across the labor movement and from allied groups engaged in issues that affect working families. It’s a place to share ideas, strategize and learn together about what is needed now to win power for workers and communities.
This will be an unprecedented opportunity to talk shop and dream big with the best organizers in the country.
Who should attend: If you consider yourself an organizer and are working to build and grow a progressive movement, you’re invited. This includes union organizers, community organizers, member organizers and front-line staff.
What’s on the program? Based on feedback the OI team has received so far, the National Organizers Workshop will focus on real-life organizing challenges in small forums that feature dialogue and high participation. Stay tuned for an online survey to solicit your input and ideas.

Working people are facing tough times. Like working people always do, we’re responding in creative ways, inside and outside of traditional union organizing drives, with real potential to build power for the future. The National Organizers Workshop will be a place to connect and trade ideas so we become stronger together. See you in March!
