Operation Christmas Solidarity Rescues Locked-Out American Crystal Sugar Workers from Scrooge
More than 1,300 Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers in Minnesota, North Dakota and Iowa have been locked out by American Crystal Sugar for more than a year and a half. These working families are being denied incomes and health care benefits.
See the video: AFL-CIO: Children Speak Out Against the American Crystal Sugar Company Lockout (BCTGM). Donate to the American Crystal Sugar Lockout Fund.
The resources necessary to sustain these families through the lockout are scarce, but a coalition of allies is working together to make sure that the workers don't suffer through the holiday season. Operation Christmas Solidarity is holding its second annual gift, toy and household drive. The drive is sponsored by the St. Paul Regional Labor Federation and the American Income Life Insurance Company, with donations from the Teamsters (IBT) Local 120 and the Laborers (LIUNA) Local 563.
New, unwrapped items and monetary donations are being accepted through Monday, Dec. 17, at:
