Coloradans Do 'Harlem Shake' in Support of Jobs Bill

Working people in Colorado have the shakes—actually, the Harlem Shake. The Colorado AFL-CIO created a Harlem Shake video in support of House Bill 1292, the "Keep Jobs in Colorado Act," which is being heard Monday in the State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee. The bill is sponsored by Democrats Pete Lee (Colorado Springs) and Dan Pabon (Denver).

Union Members Raise Voices for Commonsense Immigration Reform, Path to Citizenship

Several hundred union, immigrant and community activists rallied in Seattle on Monday and called for comprehensive, commonsense immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for more than 11 million aspiring citizens.

The Seattle action was one of more than a dozen events that are the kickoff of the AFL-CIO’s immigration reform campaign

AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Elizabeth Shuler joined Colorado union members and other working families this weekend for a rally and canvassing during the last leg of the 2012 election campaign. The rally, at Colorado AFL-CIO headquarters, encouraged activists to reach out to undecided voters and make sure everyone gets out to vote.

The battle in Wisconsin resonates far beyond its borders. That’s why working people across the country are volunteering their time at phone banks in a huge get-out-the-vote (GOTV) drive for Tom Barrett in today’s recall election against Gov. Scott Walker (R).

The 40 lines at the Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) District Council 14 have been buzzing since Wednesday, says Chicago Federation of Labor (CFL) Political Director Hanah Jubeh.
