We’re creeping up on that dreaded early spring deadline—tax day. While many of us look at the calendar and say April 15 is still weeks away, others—probably the same ones who turned in their term papers early—have already filed. But whichever group you belong to, there’s one thing that helps ease the tax pain for many—the refund! While some of those checks will go to bills, mortgages or car payments, many of us will give the economy a boost by spending a good portion of that refund (and what better way to spend it than on union-made in America products).

Apply Now for Union Plus Scholarship

The 2014 Union Plus Scholarship application is now online and you can click here to fill out your application. Each year Union Plus provides $150,000 in scholarships to members who belong to a union participating in any of the Union Plus programs.

The deadline to apply for a 2014 scholarship is noon EST on Jan. 31.

Union Plus Offers Help for Survivors of Colorado Floods

If you are a union member who participates in Union Plus programs and have been affected by the deadly floods that struck Colorado, you may be eligible for financial assistance.

Union Plus Disaster Relief Grants of $500 are available to help participants in the Union Plus Credit Card, Insurance or Mortgage programs who are facing financial hardship due to the latest natural disaster. The money does not have to be repaid.

If you are not involved in the Union Plus program, the Denver Post has a list of other resources for Coloradans and ways you can assist those affected by the floods.

The hard work of union members created Labor Day, and we think it’s about time union members @Work took full credit. We need more Americans to grasp the impact of your skilled labor.
