Let's give a shout out to Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley and wide receiver Tori Gurley who are urging Wisconsin voters to cast their ballots for Tom Barrett in his race to recall Gov. Scott Walker.

Both players say they are “proud to be union” workers. Four-year veteran Finely has more than 127,000 followers on Twitter; and Finley, entering his second year with the Packers, has more than 12,000. Both are members of the of NFL Players Association (NFLPA) .

Over the weekend, Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson came out in strong support for Wisconsin public service workers who are battling back against Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) attack on their right to bargaining for middle-class jobs.

Corner back Charles Woodson of the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers today announced his support of the Wisconsin workers protesting Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) assault on good jobs and collective bargaining rights.

Members of the reigning Super Bowl champs have come out in strong support of the state’s public employees and in opposition to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s attacks on the state’s public servants, which include threats to call out the National Guard if they strike or protest his extreme measures.

What do the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers have in common–besides playing in the Super Bowl Sunday? Both teams are named after the major manufacturing industry in their towns. Both cities were built on manufacturing and enjoy a loyal following built on the middle-class, blue-collar jobs supported by these industries. The Packers’ middle-class fans are also the team’s owners–the only team not owned by a super-rich person.
