Even Children Recognize the Impact of Income Inequality and Social Service Cuts

The video is an excerpt from the HBO documentary "American Winter," which follows eight families struggling in the aftermath of the Great Recession. McDonald's Budget Tool Advocates for $15 an Hour and We're Lovin' It

Want some truth with those fries? Want to super size it? McDonald's this week is being mocked (rightfully so) for its nonsensical budget tool that assumes a person has two jobs (sure, who doesn't these days?), pays $20 a month for health care and $0 for heating. Don't rub your eyes, that's a big fat zero. Oh, and the budget also ignores food, child care, gas and other obvious necessities.

Workonomics: Congressman Finds Living on Food Stamps No SNAP

The average food stamp recipient receives about $31 a week ($4.42 a day) for groceries and that’s apparently  too much for House Republicans —who by the way earn about $3,350 a week plus perks and seem to work about three days a week for maybe 40 weeks of the year. But I digress.

In  this latest Workonomics installment for Upworthy  Rep. Peter DeFazio (E-Ore.), sees just how far that $30 stretches and then live on it for a week.
