What's at stake for working families in the November elections? Try health care, retirement security and jobs, to name a few. Just ask Travis Turner's mom, who is so grateful for the Affordable Care Act. The Affordable Care Act made it possible for her son Travis, who has a rare form of liver cancer, to get back on his father's health insurance after he was kicked off for exceeding a lifetime limit. Mitt Romney plans to overturn the health care law, which helped the Turner family and millions of others receive health care.

It may not always be obvious, but the union movement and progressive student activists share the same core values when it comes to fighting for social and economic justice for all people. Today, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka addressed more than 1,200 young activists at the 8th annual Campus Progress National Conference in Washington, D.C.:

Nearly 1,000 union members and supporters gathered at the state Capitol in Phoenix yesterday to protest anti-worker bills going through the legislature this session. In the morning, groups from all over the state lobbied against the package of bills known as "Wisconsin on Steroids."
