For the past four days, hundreds of union and civil rights activists have been honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the AFL-CIO’s 2015 Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference in Atlanta. Today, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the conference wraps up with a special session highlighting the labor and civil rights communities’ commitment to building on King’s dream of racial, economic and social justice for all, followed by a massive march through downtown Atlanta.

Today kicks off the AFL-CIO’s 2015 Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference in Atlanta, where hundreds of union and civil rights activists will honor King’s life and legacy and the accomplishments of the civil rights movement and renew the commitment to carry on King’s fight for equality and justice. Freedom and Jobs Scholarship Winners Announced

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech, the AFL-CIO and Union Plus awarded $300,000 in scholarships to help graduating high school seniors realize their dreams of a college education. More than 600 students applied and 60 $5,000 scholarships were awarded.
