Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid aren't just numbers on a budget line, they're vital family protection lifelines for working people. 

Did you know 55.4 million Americans across the United States receive monthly Social Security checks, including 8.6 million workers with disabilities and 4.4 million children? A total of 48.7 million Americans get their health care coverage from Medicare and 64.4 million Americans get their health care coverage from Medicaid, including 29.8 million children and 4.2 million seniors.

Thanks to Obamacare, Health Insurance Company Execs Are No Longer Receiving Taxpayer Giveaways for Exorbitant Pay

Runaway executive pay at health insurance companies will no longer be subsidized by taxpayers, thanks to a little-known provision in the Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare. The provision, which lowered the tax break for executive pay to $500,000 for health insurers, yielded the federal government about $72 million in additional revenue in 2013, according to a new report by the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), “The Obamacare Prescription for Bloated CEO Pay.”

Fifty-one years ago today, 250,000 people joined the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., AFL-CIO Vice President A. Philip Randolph, labor and civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, UAW President Walter Reuther and countless Americans marched for equality, jobs and freedom. That march became a pinnacle of the civil rights movement, symbolizing hope and the power of united action.
