Report: College Grads Losing Ground on Jobs, Wages

America’s jobs crisis is hitting college grads especially hard, with new graduates less likely to get a job than they were 10 years ago. If they do find work, the job will pay less, on average, than jobs in 2000, according to a study by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI). Read the report here.

Anne Feeney Tribute Concert Set for Labor Day

Join the Labor Heritage Foundation and music lovers throughout the Washington, D.C., area for a Labor Day tribute concert for legendary labor singer, song writer and activist Anne Feeney.  The concert begins at 6 p.m. on Labor Day, Sept. 5, at Bus Boys & Poets at 5th and K Streets N.W., in Washington.

Workers’ Blog: Independent Voice for Blood Safety at Red Cross

Concerned about the safety of the nation’s supply, a group of blood donation workers has formed the Workers Committee for Blood Safety. The licensed nurses, phlebotomists, and blood drive staff from across the country also launched a website and blog to provide an independent voice for protecting donor and blood safety.

With the economy in crisis, many of the nation’s  religious leaders are speaking out in favor of economic policies that create jobs and spur economic growth. Decent jobs at decent wages are the best path out of poverty and restoring growth is a powerful way to reduce deficits, they say.

Check Out the ‘Brotherhood Outdoors’ Labor Day Marathon

This Labor Day, Sept. 5 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (EDT), the Sportsman Channel and the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance will team up to salute the American worker with a four- hour “Brotherhood Outdoors” Labor Day Marathon. The marathon will feature eight back-to-back episodes of the new Brotherhood Outdoor series that takes hardworking union members on hunting and fishing adventures across North America.  See the full schedule here.
