Indiana Laborer and Songwriter Tells Lawmakers ‘Remember November’

When Indiana working families were rallying at the statehouse against the state legislatures’ drive to ram through "right to work" legislation, Laborers (LIUNA) member Turner Corn was there with his guitar to boost the crowd's spirit. He’s since written this new song, “Remember November,” which reflects the frustrations working Americans feel towards elected officials who attack their fundamental rights and values.

N.H. 'Right to Work' Not Veto-Proof—Again

If madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, it may be time for N.H. House Speaker William O’Brien to get a little help.

As we had all predicted, O’Brien held a vote on New Hampshire’s newest so-called right to work bill (H.B. 1677). Predictably, it passed. Predictably, it didn’t get the two-thirds vote needed to overturn a governor’s veto. 

The vote count (198-139) was essentially unchanged from last year, leaving workers and labor leaders asking: What exactly was the point?

Ignoring Workers, Minn. Senate Panel Passes 'Right to Work' Measure

More than 1,500 Minnesota working men and women packed the state Capitol hallways Monday to protest a corporate-backed bill that would put a so-called right to work (RTW) state constitutional amendment on the November ballot. The state Senate Judiciary Committee passed the bill by a 7-6 vote.

New Hampshire Labor Committee Passes Slew of Union-Busting Bills

At a time when the tea party-driven Republican agenda in New Hampshire's state capitol is more unpopular than ever with voters on both sides of the aisle, the House Labor Committee took another step toward dismantling New Hampshire’s collective bargaining rights law by voting no fewer than five anti-worker bills "ought to pass."

Full of tea party zeal after voting to repeal lunch hours for all employees, the House Labor Committee took up a new so-called right to work “RTW” bill today over the loud objections of union members, business owners and faith leaders.

Super Solidarity over Super Bowl Weekend

Over the weekend, all eyes were on the Super Bowl in Indianapolis, where tens of thousands traveled to see the event and hundreds of thousands more watched it on television. But while the spotlight was on the game, workers across the city took to the streets to protest the outrages happening to working people.
