This week, leading up to July 4, we're highlighting American products, jobs and stories for our Made in America series. What are your favorite Made in America products? Please comment and share your ideas.

What better way to spend July 4 than barbecuing and hosting a cookout that’s actually Made in America? We’ve made it easy for you this year by compiling a holiday shopping list from Union Plus, the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers (BCTGM), the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor's LA Labor 411's website and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) for all your union-made products. Here are some highlights:

Here are some travel tips from Union Plus. If you are headed for a major theme park, many are staffed by union members, including the 36,000 union workers from 18 unions at the Disney Parks in Anaheim, Calif., and Orlando, Fla. We Asked, You Told Us: Your Favorite Made in America Items

When we asked about your favorite Made in America items, dozens and dozens of you responded. Topping the list of favorites? Slugger baseball bats, Miller beer and anything sweet and/or chocolate—Oreos, Hershey Kisses and Russell Stovers. Buicks and all U.S.-made cars, and a variety of guns—Rugers, Remingtons, Smith & Wessons—and ammo also topped the list of most favorite Made In America.

Next month, in the days leading up to the July 4 holiday, we are running a Made In America series—including blogs and videos—to celebrate the contributions of U.S. workers to our economy and to highlight how Congress and policymakers can ensure the nation maximizes its greatest resource—America’s working people.

Made in America, Made for the World

In a special July 4 guest column, Scott Paul, executive director of the Alliance for American Manufacturing says one way we can all show our patriotism and boost the economy is to do our best to buy American-made products.

Enjoy the fireworks today and thank our Founding Fathers for the freedom we enjoy. While you are at it, thank them for making manufacturing a central part of the American idea.
