Union Sportsmen's Alliance sends us a preview of this week's "Brotherhood Outdoors" on the Sportsman Channel at 8 p.m. (EST) which airs Thursday, August 2.

Scott Walsh, a third generation member of Fire Fighters (IAFF Local 1561), from Eastpointe, Mich., grew up hunting small game and deer. But in 2010, when Walsh and his family decided to take a risk and adopt a rescued bird dog, everything changed.

Second Season of ‘Brotherhood Outdoors’ Premieres with IBEW Member’s Elk Hunt

The second season of the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance’s (USA's) “Brotherhood Outdoors,” a unique hunting and fishing series that showcases the talents and passions of union members, kicks off at 8 p.m. EDT on Thursdays, starting June 28, exclusively on the Sportsman Channel.

In the season premier, Scott Callaghan, an Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 26 member from Annapolis, Md., who served two tours of duty with the Marine Corps in the Middle East, joins host Tom Ackerman in the mountains of south central Montana to fulfill his dream of hunting America’s iconic bull elk east.

Union Sportsmen Take Kids Fishing

Today, Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA) and a team of union volunteers are holding Take Kids Fishing Day events in Wisconsin and Ohio as part of National Fishing and Boating Week. A third Take Kids Fishing day event will be held later this summer in Las Vegas. The Wisconsin event, at Pettibone Lagoon in Lacrosse, is open to the public and is sponsored by the Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO. At Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve in Munson, Ohio, the Bricklayers (BAC) Ohio District Council and BAC Local 16 will host children with varying physical and mental disabilities.

Iron Worker, 9/11 Volunteer Named ‘Hero of Conservation’

John Sferazo, a retired Ironworkers Local 361 member and longtime member of the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance will be profiled for his extraordinary contributions to conservation in the June 2012 issue of Field & Stream—the world’s leading outdoor magazine.

Since suffering physical and emotional trauma as a Ground Zero volunteer on 9/11, Sferazo has worked to provide free hunting opportunities for first responders and veterans. With the support of 30 organizations, his nonprofit group American Greenlands Restoration Inc. has turned a former 1,000-acre asphalt plant site in Maine back into a thriving forest habitat.

'Brotherhood Outdoors' Goes on Louisiana Gator Hunt
