Power Partnerships: Labor/Community Campaigns That Build Worker Power

Monday, September 9 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Location: Room 308-A/B

This action session will focus on policy and organizing campaigns that build broad community and worker power. Guest speakers will share current labor and community efforts from three exemplary campaigns: multi-city carwash organizing, municipal paid sick days campaigns and the AFT’s transformational partnerships with community. Participants will hear the success stories of these campaigns as they share best practices and lessons learned. Through this interactive session we will take a closer look at how these campaigns structure decision making and work between unions and community partners, how they develop worker and community leadership, and how these partnerships evolve over time toward building sustainable collaborations.
